I was in charge of operations for a medium sized power generation facility located in the lower great lakes region. Our facility had significant problem with pigeons roosting in the exit gas duct support structure. The flock had grown to around 150-200 birds, the waste generated created a significant health, and safety hazard as it was being deposited directly onto switch gear compartments below the ductwork. We tried several methods including decoys, high frequency noise generators, and even had a pair of peregrine falcons nesting nearby, without success. Jeff suggested and implemented a program, which proved very successful and cost effective, virtually eliminating the bird population.
